Just Your Standard Bull

I am truly torn with the good news—bad news scenario. The good part is really good! The bad is about as bad as you can get. So, I will start with the bad and end up on a more positive note with the good.

With last week’s events, it has become clear to all who choose to open their eyes that there is a true fight going on out there for our country’s moral base. The political assignation of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old young man that spoke on college campuses across this nation about his conservative values and Christian faith on Sept. 10th—the day before we observed the anniversary of the events that occurred on Sept.r 11, 2001—has sent shock waves around the world.

I had seen countless video clips on my Facebook and Twitter feeds of Charlie’s encounters and debates with young students at campuses and I marveled at the intelligence, preparedness and maturity of a young man that was wise beyond his years. He disarmed his opponents with facts, but with respect. He respected your right to believe what you believe. He just challenged the reasons why you believe it and the facts surrounding that belief.

There is a very small percentage of people on this earth with the ability to recall at a moment’s notice the vast amounts of information accumulated through the study of books and other sources. You would think this ability was honed with countless hours spent in study preparing for his numerous degrees received. No—Charlie chose another path. He had no college degrees—no Bachelor of Science, Masters or Doctorate.

No, Charlie’s abilities were God given. But the difference in him and other highly talented people is Charlie knew that his talents were God given. And he thanked him every day.

Our society, our schools, our media, our tv programming for the past 40 years has conditioned us to think the abnormal is normal. That pornography and violence is ok. Is it any surprise that there are generations of people that are torn about which path to take?

Make no mistake. I know who my audience is. And I know I’m preaching to the choir here. But will it surprise you if even more young adults choose to home-school their children than ever before? And you may say that is great, and I agree. But remember the hands that are grabbing dollars from your property taxes. School districts and local universities fight to get their paws on your money. Taxpayers deserve to have choices as to where and how their tax dollars are spent. Now more than ever before!

No doubt there will be more Charlie Kirks to come that will deserve our spiritual, physical and financial support. We will need them if we are to get the needle on our country’s moral compass moving in the right direction.

On a positive note. How ‘bout them Aggies!! I’m told that this on-the-road victory against a top 10 opponent was the first since 2014 against Auburn. I would argue that this road victory was the best since our victory over Alabama in 2012 in our first year in the SEC. No matter which is greater, Texas A&M just got a huge monkey off their backs with this victory.

But it means nothing if they don’t get the next biggest monkey off their backs. And that is to not lose games they are supposed to win going forward. In 2021, A&M beat Alabama at home. That would have been even better had they not lost the prior two games to Arkansas and Mississippi State.  You absolutely need to win every home game going forward this year because you have four critical road games against Arkansas, Missouri, LSU and Texas. If you win two of these four, and all of your home games, you have a chance for a playoff berth. But if you lose a home game, then you need three of four.

I know. Just worry about the next one. The next step. So BTHO Auburn!
